As I said on Friday, I attended the Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter Festival in Oakland Park, FL this weekend. Had a great time enjoying a ton of great beers. There will be a more in depth review of it for this week’s Craft Beer article.
Due to the trip, and the festivities, I didn’t watch the Saturday games in their entirety. However, I did watch both Sunday games from start to finish. Let’s get to the recaps:
Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons
I went back and forth from watching this game to hanging out with a large group of people. I thought that the game would be a lot closer than it was. All season long, it has been hard to gauge whether the Dirty Birds were for real or not. This game proved that they can make it to, and even win the Super Bowl. This offense has more weapons than most defenses can handle. Matt Ryan looked like “Matty Ice” and the Falcons may be able to win their first Championship this year.
Houston Texans at New England Patriots
I’m going to write about this as long as I watched it. I had absolutely no interest in this game as the outcome was pretty obvious. The Texans kept it closer than I thought they would for awhile; but, even with the Patriots playing pretty poorly, New England still covered a large spread.
Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys
It only took until the 7th game of NFL Playoff for a good game to occur, and this one was excellent. Most know my hatred for the Cowboys. When this game started with the Packers dominating there was no one happier than me. Dallas showed heart and came back. Aaron Rodgers was just too much for the defense to contain. This streak that he is on is unreal. I just love that he played “sandlot” on that last throw. He’s unbelievable!
Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs
The fact that the NFL tries to claim “fan safety” to move this game is absurd. So, driving on ice in the morning is more dangerous than driving on ice at night? Just ridiculous. Then it comes out that The League was going to use this game to see how Sunday Primetime games would work in Playoffs. It’s just impossible to believe anything that comes out of Goodell’s office.
To know that Alex Smith was drafted before Rodgers in the same draft makes my head hurt. I like Smith, but he missed some opportunities after that first drive. Tyreek Hill was wide open. The Chiefs implored the “Bend but Don’t Break” defense that they’ve done all year. The fact that the Steelers could win a playoff game without scoring a touchdown just shows how inept the Chiefs offense really is. It’s also BS that you actually make that holding call. Games of this magnitude shouldn’t have the refs at the center of attention. It’s a bad look for the league, not that they care.
Both Championship Games should be fun to watch. Right now, I’m picking the two home teams however I think the NFC game is a toss up. Either way, I’ll be rooting for the NFC team in the Super Bowl.
