The biggest story for my fandom over the past weekend was the Knicks-Charles Oakley fiasco and the continued incompetence of James Dolan. However, I didn’t want the first thing I write about this week to be negative.
Instead, I’m going to touch on getting to cheer for a Championship last night. Through Middle School and part of High School, I was really into the WWE. I attended numerous Raws, Smackdowns, and PPVs. After a while, I lost interest. However, I would continue to occasionally check in and just see what was going on with the storylines.
One night, I noticed vignette’s for a new character. I thought they were cool and started to follow WWE a little more each week. I’ve gotten the WWE Network, went to a few Live NXT shows, and even went to a Royal Rumble PPV in 2016. Bray Wyatt got me to follow the WWE again.
After years of thinking they would finally push him only to watch him lose every big match, Bray Wyatt has finally been put in a central position with a great storyline with Randy Orton. They won the Tag Team Championship a couple of PPVs ago, and then lost them as the Wyatt Family showed dissention.
After Orton won the Royal Rumble this year, Wyatt finally won the Championship at Elimination Chamber last night. This sets up a WrestleMania match between Orton and Wyatt. Bray has the chance to be a central character for many years to come and finally has some gold to show that the WWE has faith in him. Looks like I’ll keep watching.
