I used to watch wrestling religiously. Every week, Monday was dedicated to watching Monday Night Raw and switching to Monday Nitro during commercials. Through a hook up from a friend of my step-brother, I attended tons of live events. Raws, Smackdowns, PPVs; I went to it all.
Late in High School, I just stopped watching. I don’t know exactly what happened, but I lost interest. Then, around my 4th year of college, I stumbled onto Raw and wanted to see who was still around. For a while, I would occasionally just check in. After graduation, I kept up a little more each month.
During one of those check-ins, there was a vignette for a new character – Bray Wyatt. I thought it was pretty cool so I kept watching to see when he would debut. The more I watched, the more I got back into it. This time was different than when I was young but I still enjoyed it.
I eventually got the WWE Network and got into NXT. It is currently the only show that I watch EVERY week. It’s presentation seems more streamlined and tends to be more old-school. Tonight, I’ll be hitting up NXT Takeover: Orlando. It’s WrestleMania weekend, but the tickets to the main show were too expensive. However, we are about to hit the road and enjoy the revelry of way more hardcore wrestling fans. It’s still going to be awesome. After seeing the show live tonight, and attending Opening Day tomorrow (check out the blog tomorrow morning), I’m going to #FollowTheBuzzards while watching WrestleMania at home.
It’s quite a weekend.
