The Florida Gators announced they’re wearing alternate jerseys. The reactions to this new uniform has been mixed at best. The people who matter in this equation, the players and recruits, like them. The people who don’t, alumni, don’t.
The jersey is designed to look like an actual alligator and I think the mark was somewhat hit. The pictures that first game out made the uniform look more gray, but others have been released in which it is more of an actual green.
As an alum (someone who’s opinion doesn’t mean much in this debate), I’m pretty down with the uniforms. UF is one of the larger Nike schools in the country, but have kept with the same basic uniform throughout the years, with few exceptions. As much as the aging alumni don’t want to admit it, recruits and players like these new looks. And if they like the looks, then that’s what counts. While this wouldn’t be my first choice of what to wear, it’s glad the Gators are finally coming into the 2000s in terms of what they wear. Now, if only the offense could follow suit.
