It’s being reported that Adam Gase is going to be the next head coach of the New York Jets. He’s set to replace Todd Bowles who was fired after four seasons. Gase was also fired this offseason, after going 23-25 as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Gase was supposed to be a hot hire for the Miami Dolphins, but things never seemed to work out after a playoff appearance in year one. I think he did alright with the offense, especially considering who played quarterback for the Fins. However, Miami had given him full control over the roster and that proved to be costly. He traded away big name players and then proceeded to go under .500.
I still think Gase can be a good head coach. He has a respected offensive mind, and with Sam Darnold cemented as the franchise QB in New York, the Jets had to hire someone on the offensive side of the ball. There are reports that Darnold is happy with the choice, and that should be a good sign for Jets’ fans. As long as Gang Green doesn’t let him mess with the roster, this should be a pretty solid hire.
